Austin Nicholls – Employee Spotlight

As we wrap up another busy week at Sjoberg, we would like to take a moment to highlight one of our hard-working team members, Austin Nicholls.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Austin started at STMC 10 years ago at the age of 20. Previously, he mowed lawns and umpired for youth baseball games. Austin came to STMC without any manufacturing experience and started out stacking material as it came off the backside of the shear. Showing a natural aptitude for manufacturing he bounced around the plant learning to operate the turrets and press brake operation. The Sjoberg management team saw promise in his abilities and sent him to school to learn the programming and operation of the Water Jet. Austin stated, “It was really neat to program something and see it cut”. For a while, he alternated back and forth between the water jet and the press brakes. When the company discontinued making water jet components, Austin moved into the brake area full time. Austin has now achieved the role of first shift lead in the press brake department where he really enjoys programming and running first-piece product for our customers.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Austin appreciates the fact that STMC is a family-operated company and not a large corporation and that he is able to pursue outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and sharing time with his wife. This fall Austin would like to earn his Captains License for the Great Lakes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We’re proud of all your accomplishments Austin and glad to have you on the team!
