Donavaun Britton – Employee Spotlight

Sjoberg Tool would like to spotlight one of our incredible team members, Donavaun Britton. He started at STMC 4 ½ years ago at the age of 20. He worked at a bodega in high school and then for a gun barrel manufacturer, where he lapped barrels before coming to STMC. Donavaun knew there was an opportunity to make a good living wage in manufacturing and decided to pursue that path rather than go to college and create educational debt. When starting at Sjoberg, Donavaun performed general labor in the shakeout department. Recognizing that he had even bigger goals, he moved into the hardware insertion department. From there, he progressed to the press brake cell that supports one of our largest customers. Donavaun often volunteered to work on the robotic welders in the morning before starting his press brake shift. He demonstrated such skill with the robotic welders Sjoberg sent him to school in Carol Stream, Illinois. He focused on programming the robots to enhance the skills he was learning on the job. He employed many of his newly acquired skills when he returned to the weld shop. Having a keen interest in welding (having taken some weld classes in high school tech.) Donavaun went back to WCTC 2 years ago to hone his skills in MIG welding. This last year during the pandemic, he went back to WCTC to learn TIG welding. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Donavaun enjoys contributing to the programming and running of the robotic welders but would like to further his TIG welding skills and concentrate more on that area in the future. When not at work, Donavaun enjoys working on household projects and spending time with his wife and two young children (soon to be three), as well as an occasional basketball game on Thursday nights with some friends. We’re glad to have you, Donavaun. You’re an integral part of the team.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
